A member of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) since 1971, John earned Master Model Railroader (MMR) certificate #150 in 1989.  His articles and photography have been featured in most major model railroad publications including his landmark series on stencil painting backdrops.   He was a featured guest host on the popular television series, “Workin on the Railroad” on the Do It Yourself (DIY) network and has presented instructional clinics across the nation at NMRA National and Regional Conventions, Trainfest, the Amherst Springfield Train Show, and The NMRA “Modeling With The Masters” program.   John served as the National NMRA’s Southern Vice President, and Education Department Manager.  He is past president, of the Lone Star Region and the San Antonio Model Railroad Association (SAMRA) and was key designer of their 3,000 Sq. Foot, HO scale San Antonio & Northern layout.
